Shoes & Boots

Back at the modeling table after the easter exhibition! Last night was my first modeling possibility for more than a week... hard to be away!
I decided to do a small building for a change, and remembered this shoe shop I had drawn on one of the Seaview hotel sketches

I changed the front design a bit, mostly because I had the shop door and window in my Grandt Line grab bags... but I think it looks good too.

The usual paper clapboard on heavy cardboard. A bit of hand lettering on the front, and a shoe sign I made on the computer by cleaning up a magazine ad with the clone tool in Paint Shop Pro. The building is just test assembled, and will get a window decoration and the like. I will make a stone foundation and staircase too. A shingle roof to finish too.

The Convers shoe store has been planted in mother earth. Stone foundation from pink foam, carved, heat deformed, painted dark grey and dry brushed stone.
I put in window panes lightly sanded with very fine paper to simulate dust and neglect. The macramé curtains were cloned up from a photo on the net, and glued on the back of the window shelf. A hand lettered sign in the window reads Womens light work a speciality ( I saw that in an old photo).

I cut out the boot sign from styrene. The staircase was made short, so that I can fit the terrain to the building.
Next, I'll now need to force myself to make that shingle pattern to cast some resin shingle roofs...
